Merry Christmas Everyone!
The Roswell Community Disaster Relief has partnered with First Presbyterian Church of Roswell to open and operate a centralized Food Bank to help end hunger in our Homebound Senior Community. Other agencies such as the Chaves County Joy Centers or the New Mexico Department of Health refer clients to this location.
Potential Clients join on a three-month probation period where we learn as much about them to better provide for their needs. At the end of the three months, if it is determined they require continued support, they become permanent clients and continue to benefit from our program.
Our program provides monthly groceries delivered to their homes. Our volunteers contact each client a week before and ask for a grocery list. When we obtain that list, we gather the items from our food bank and get them ready to deliver the following week. By providing a week later, allows us to go to the local grocery store to purchase items not found in our food bank, like perishable items.
Doing this, we help avoid waste because the recipient is only receiving what they need based on diet, restricted food, allergies, and methods available to them for cooking. We also offer food for their pets. Our volunteers each have their specific clients to serve better and provide better care since our volunteers report when the client seems depressed or lonely, so we can act on it and make contact as soon as possible.

We can have this location thanks to our generous sponsors, First Presbyterian Church of Roswell, Seventh Day Adventist Church, and El Torito Jerky. They help provide the funds for our monthly rent at this location.
Here we provide food and supplies to low-income families who need a little bit of help to make it to their next paycheck. Our two-room facility has shelves stocked with food and hygiene supplies and senior items like adult depends and bed liners and infant and toddler care such as baby formula, diapers, wipes, bottles, and more. Here you will also find fresh fruits and veggies as well as fruit.
Unlike our other location, this one does have three freezers and one large refrigerator so we can keep perishable items on hand. This location is only open by appointment. In addition to our foodbank, this location also houses our Disaster Relief Equipment, overstock supplies, and seasonal items.
