THE 30 DAY FAMILY SUPPORT SHELTER

When a family in Roswell loses their home due to a structure fire, several challenging situations often arise:

  1. Utilities are cut, and the home is typically condemned by the city, forcing the family to evacuate quickly.
  2. Theft and vandalism are common, with nearly 40% of affected homes experiencing break-ins or damage while vacant.
  3. Children are frequently placed outside their school zone, causing them to miss school due to various barriers and logistical issues.
  4. Hotel accommodations are not always available or affordable long-term. During peak times, such as holidays, hotel rooms can be scarce, and some hotels refuse to rent to local residents.
  5. Transportation issues arise as families often lose their vehicles in the fire or do not have access to a working vehicle, making it difficult to stay connected to shelters or return home.
  6. Pets are often left behind until repairs are completed or the family can relocate, posing additional emotional and logistical challenges.
  7. Identification barriers can prevent families from securing hotel rooms. Without a driver’s license or proper ID—and even if we vouch for them—they may be unable to rent accommodations or drive to and from shelters and their damaged home.

HOW WE PLAN TO HELP.....

In the event of a fire, upon receiving the call and once it is safe to do so, we will drive the RV to the affected address and temporarily park it in a secure location for up to 30 days. This allows the family to remain close to their home, enabling them to clean, make repairs, meet with contractors, monitor their property and outside pets, and ensure their children can continue to catch the bus and attend their regular school.

During this period, we will maintain the RV, stock it with complimentary groceries and hygiene supplies tailored to the family’s needs, ensuring comfort and convenience. Once the family is able to return home, we will retrieve the RV, perform a thorough deep cleaning, and prepare it for the next deployment.

To make this initiative a reality, we are seeking donations or sponsors to help purchase and equip an RV. Your support will enable us to provide this vital service to families in need, saving thousands of dollars annually on hotel costs and other expenses.
