The Shelter and Assistance for Families in Emergencies (SAFE) program is steadily making progress thanks to the dedication of volunteers, community partners, and generous donors. From new carpet and flooring donated and installed by River Flooring of Roswell to new cabinets, paint, and fixtures donated and installed by Allison’s Home Supply House, the transformation is truly a community effort. Our volunteers have spent countless hours on demolition, planning, and organizing each phase of the project. Their hard work is bringing new life to a 30-foot RV that will serve as a temporary SAFE space for families displaced by structure fires—giving them a secure place to rest, regroup, and begin planning their recovery. 

Each year, families across our community are displaced by devastating house fires, often losing everything and facing an uncertain future. These families, many with children, elderly members, or individuals with disabilities, require immediate, safe, and stable housing during the critical first weeks after a disaster.

The Roswell Community Disaster Relief (RCDR) is committed to providing that stability. Our first priority during such emergencies is to secure temporary lodging for affected families—typically through local hotels. However, as hotel costs continue to rise, our emergency funds are rapidly depleted, leaving families once again without a place to stay.
To address this growing challenge, RCDR is developing the Shelter and Assistance for Families in Emergencies (SAFE) program, an innovative solution designed to offer families up to 30 days of uninterrupted housing in a safe, comfortable, and mobile shelter environment. This program will allow families the time and stability they need to recover, navigate insurance claims, access community resources, and begin rebuilding their lives.

Thirty days of stability can make an immeasurable difference in a family’s recovery process—transforming crisis into opportunity for healing and hope. By investing in the Family Relief Shelter Program, funders, donors, and partners will directly contribute to long-term community resilience and ensure that no family in crisis is left without shelter.
